About UNEDITED
UNEDITED is a brand-led public-interest platform designed to operate through multiple campaigns addressing different forms of language control. It looks at what gets edited, removed, softened, or hidden by people, platforms, and systems, and makes those decisions visible.
Our mission is to reveal and challenge the systems that shape public language by translating hidden moderation, editorial control, and institutional filtering into visible, legible design in public space and print.
We want to invision a culture where audiences recognise that information is designed, filtered, and framed, and where public language can be questioned rather than passively consumed.
Our Story
UNEDITED started with a simple frustration: the most important things are rarely allowed to appear exactly as they are. Online, words get flagged, softened, or hidden. In institutions, language gets “tidied” for legality, reputation, or comfort. In news and advertising, messages are refined until they stop sounding like real life.
What bothers UNEDITED is not only the edit itself, but how invisible it is. The public sees the final version and mistakes it for truth, neutrality, or common sense. Over time, that changes what people feel permitted to say, what they think is “appropriate” to ask for, and which experiences seem valid enough to exist in public.
So UNEDITED takes the tools of public authority, posters, billboards, notices, platform-style warnings, redactions, footnotes, and turns them back on the systems that control language. It doesn’t shout for attention. It documents, frames, and exposes. It makes the missing parts unmistakable.
UNEDITED is a reminder that design is never neutral. Every edit has a reason. Every “clean” message has a cost. And if something has been filtered, UNEDITED will show you the filter.
